Julia Herries was appointed commissioner for Hong Kong in July 2019.

Prior to joining Trade and Investment Queensland, Julia was Director of Executive Education for the University of Chicago (Asia Campus) in Hong Kong. She has held a variety of other senior roles in international education and investment, including Director of the Hong Kong office of the Australian Graduate School of Management; Asia Pacific Regional Director of the Graduate Management Admission Council, also based in Hong Kong; and UK Representative and Principal Investment Consultant for Invest Hong Kong.

Julia was raised in Hong Kong and undertook her tertiary studies in the USA and China. She holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Indiana University.

Julia speaks Chinese (Mandarin), Italian and Spanish.
