Navigation

Header Navigation

The header navigation of the website can be modified through the CMS tree under Navigation > NavigationMenu. All pages will default to this menu, but you can change the navigation menu items by creating a new menu page in the Navigation folder, then select the new menu through the content tab of the page that you want to use the different menu for, using the Header Menu field.

Header Sub-Navigation

A secondary navigation can be applied to any page on the website. To set this up, create a new menu page in the Navigation folder, then select that folder in the content tab of the page you want to add it to using the Header Subnav Menu field. In the content tab of the menu page, you can modify the navigation bars text/background colour and the logo.

Breadcrumbs

You can hide/show the breadcrumbs on any page by enabling them in the content tab of the page. If you use a page banner, you can modify the breadcrumb text colour to light/dark through the page banner widget settings to correctly contrast it with your banner image or background colour.

Footer Navigation

The footer navigation can be modified the same way as the header navigation. There is no option to change the menu between pages. The footer navigation works on a column system, and is setup the same way in the CMS tree. You can add/remove columns using the structure "Navigation > Footer Menu > Column Name > Page", but it is recommended to stick to four columns max.

Footer Sub-Navigation

The footer navigation can be modified the same way as the header navigation. There is no option to change the menu between pages.

Categories

What are categories

In Kentico, Categories are a feature that is used to tag, manage and sort related pages for the site user.

On TIQ, we have used the Categories feature to create a system where the content editor can add categories to news article, event, resource or success story page types. The purpose of this is to allow the site user to be able to search and filter results for these page types based on their selected categories.

How to add, update and remove categories from a page

You can manage a pages categories by selecting a page, the clicking on Properties > Categories. Through here, you can add and remove categories from the page. You can also create, modify and delete categories globally from this section as well.

How to add, update and remove categories globally

You can manage categories globally through the Categories application in Kentico. This will allow you to add, modify and delete any category that is used throughout the site. You can also view every page that is using a category through the "Pages" tab while a category is selected.

Important note: Make sure the correct site (tiq.qld.gov.au) is selected before editing categories.
