Matthew Lamprecht commenced as the Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) Regional Manager in May 2015. In this role Matthew is responsible for managing TIQ’s offices and activities in Rockhampton, Barcaldine, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns. He is also responsible for managing TIQ’s engagement with a range of stakeholders including Federal and State Agencies, Local Governments and regional economic development agencies.

Matthew has international business experience in both the public and private sectors. His strengths include stakeholder engagement, business development, project management, budget and contracts management and leadership in international business.

Matthew began his career with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). His roles included managing the agency’s Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Unit, which involved regular secondments to the offices of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs; managing Australia’s $40 million aid program to Iraq; and a long term posting to Papua New Guinea in a position managing yearly budgets in excess of $400 million. He was also engaged by AECOM, a global engineering and professional services company, to advise on international aid and the Papua New Guinea market. Most recently, Matthew was engaged as the TradeStart Export Adviser for North Queensland where he assisted small to medium sized companies achieve long term success in international business.

Principal Trade and Investment Officer (TradeStart Adviser)

Trent Scott’s professional background commenced as a soldier in the Australian Army including operational service in East Timor in 2000. Since leaving the Army, Trent has gained over 15 years of International Business, Development and Project Management experience encompassing most of Asia, the Pacific, North America, and Australia.

Prior to being appointed as the TradeStart Adviser in August 2016, Trent was the Deputy Facility Director, Scholarships Manager of the Australia Awards – PNG Facility based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea for three years where he led a team to deliver the prestigious Australian Government funded Australia Awards.

Preceding his employment in Papua New Guinea, Trent worked for 8 years with the University of the Sunshine Coast as their International Coordinator managing student recruitment, marketing and admissions of International Students primarily from Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and the Sub-continent regions.

With a Bachelor of Science (Japanese minor), Trent has also completed three years working and studying in Japan at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies.

Through his role with Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ), Trent is keen to utilise his knowledge and skill-sets to support and develop Far North Queensland’s new businesses and existing exporters through the TIQ and Austrade TradeStart global networks.
