Thai media personality and Queenslander Andrew Biggs recently visited the State to shoot a series of eight short videos to highlight showcase the experiences of the growing number of Thai students studying in Queensland.

Originally from Queensland, Mr Biggs has received a significant following for his English language endeavours over two decades, through traditional media of radio and television and social media with a Twitter following of 2.5 million and via his school – the Andrew Biggs Academy.

Throughout his tour, Andrew interviewed students from key high schools, multiple TAFE Queensland campuses, and several universities. Throughout each interview, Mr Biggs gained insights into their respective experiences in Queensland, alongside those of local teachers and homestay families.

Thai cookery and hospitality student Kik, from TAFE Queensland’s Southport Campus, was among the many students to talk with Andrew and to show her skills. She was given the chance to specially prepare a traditional Thai meal for Andrew and a group of fellow Thai students.

There are more than 123,000 students studying across Queensland, with Thailand the State’s 12th largest source market for students. In 2017, Queensland attracted 73,000 visitors from Thailand, many of whom were friends and relatives of Thai students studying in Queensland institutions.
