Queensland products are now for sale on Kitchen Garden, a major Japanese online store.
Kitchen Garden is a supermarket chain specialising in imported gourmet food and beverages. Its online store has launched Aussie Style, a special section dedicated to Australian products.
Aussie Style profiles Queensland’s history, climate, lifestyle, food and beverages, and gives online shoppers links to each page where they can make purchases.
Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner for Japan Tak Adachi said several agencies joined forces to collaborate on the ecommerce initiative with Kitchen Garden.
‘TIQ, Austrade and other agencies worked together to collaboratively raise the profile of Australian food products in the Japanese market,’ he said.
‘By introducing Kitchen Garden to Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) Japan, we also hope to bring benefits for cross-selling between food and tourism.
‘Our partnership with Kitchen Garden’s online store has allowed us to showcase an extensive range of Queensland’s high-quality, value-added food products.’
Queensland products on Kitchen Garden now include Nerada Tea, Capilano Honey, Taylor and College’s Vanilla Bean, Cobra Chili Sauce, Rainforest Heart’s Davidson Plum powder and Kialla Food’s organic flour and grain products.
Queensland companies wanting to sell their food and beverage products in Japan should contact TIQ.
Kitchen Garden is hosted by online marketplace Rakuten Ichiba, which ranks among the world’s largest ecommerce platforms by sales.
Supporting Queensland exporters, including ecommerce initiatives, is a priority of the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy 2017–2022.
