A festive-season chat with Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner – Indonesia, Ben Giles
How is the festive season celebrated in Indonesia?
Despite Indonesia being the world’s largest Muslim nation, Christmas is celebrated by around 15% of the population (still a huge number of people!) and observed nationally with a two-day public holiday for all.
What were some standout achievements for TIQ Indonesia in 2019?
There were many. They included the re-signing of the Queensland-Central Java Sister State/Province MOU in July, and a Study Brisbane mission in September. In November, we welcomed Minister Furner, who promoted Queensland’s world-class produce and spent time with us visiting local businesses who are already partnering with Queensland suppliers. We also arranged successful visit programs for six new-to-market clients.
What are you most looking forward to in 2020?
More visits by Queensland clients, the first Queensland Week in Indonesia, and a new team member joining us in the Jakarta office. And, of course, the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement coming into force.
