Brisbane tanner packs a punch on global leather stage
From Test match cricket balls and World Cup soccer boots to Grand Prix racing leathers and luxury car interiors, Packer Leather is a spectacular example of a successful Queensland exporter.
The business is 125 years old but remains at the forefront of innovation by working with global brands to continuously improve, create and develop innovative products, including fire-retardant and water-resistant leathers.
Five generations of the Packer family have been involved with the business since its beginnings in 1891. Today the company specialises in kangaroo leather, which accounts for around 80% of its turnover, and the business is recognised as the leading K-leather producer worldwide.
Packer Leather received the Premier of Queensland’s Exporter of the Year Award in 2015 and has also been recognised on the international stage for environmental excellence at its processing facility.
