What they achieved

In April 2017, BGI established its Asia-Pacific headquarters at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute at Herston.

BGI is now working with local and international partners on a range of genomics projects. It has agreements with the CSIRO for research projects on millet breeding, production and genetic improvement; with Griffith University for omics research in sport health, diseases and biodiversity; and with James Cook University for research in the fields of marine science, aquaculture and health.

How they did it

BGI participated in the inaugural Advance Queensland Innovation and Investment Summit in Brisbane in April 2016.

It later signed a memorandum of understanding with QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, and a range of Queensland research partners.

TIQ introduced BGI to a range of potential local business partners.
