Taste of Queensland popular with Indonesian shoppers

Juicy Queensland mandarins and top-quality avocados tempted the tastebuds of Indonesian shoppers during a supermarket promotion organised by Trade and Investment Queensland’s Jakarta team.

Sweet Royal Honey Murcott mandarins and premium Hass avocados from Wide Bay producers were an instant hit in 2 AEON supermarkets during the July 2020 promotion.

With the producers unable to travel due to COVID-19, Trade and Investment Queensland’s Indonesian team stepped in to organise the 15-day promotion and share the delicious flavours of Queensland with locals.

The Taste of Queensland promotion also got social, with AEON posting health tips, recipes and cooking demonstrations featuring Queensland ingredients on its Instagram account.

Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner for Indonesia Ben Giles said Indonesia was a growing market with huge potential for Queensland producers.

‘Jakarta has a growing middle class who are prepared to pay extra for the freshest, highest quality produce for themselves and their families,’ he said.

Clearly AEON’s discerning shoppers liked what they tasted, with 250 cartons of mandarins and avocados sold during the promotion.

Four citrus producers from Mundubbera in the North Burnett and an avocado producer from Bundaberg joined the promotion through their wholesale exporters.
