Queensland at Expo 2020 Dubai

From 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, this global event is expected to attract more 25 million visitors from around the world. More than 190 countries are represented, with each hosted in its own pavilion across the vast Expo site.

Queensland is a key partner of the Australia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and is shining a light on our state’s very best talent, world-class capabilities, and wealth of diverse investment opportunities.

A particular focus of Queensland’s presence at the Australian Pavilion will be the week of Sunday 27 February to Friday 4 March.

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Cameron Dick will lead a delegation including Trade and Investment Queensland CEO, Michael Carey, and a trade mission of leading Queensland businesses, as our state showcases its capabilities to the Middle East.

Included among the highlights of the week will be three events, each looking at a distinct theme: Brisbane 2032, Global New Energy, and Future Cities.

Each of these events will feature a range of renowned speakers and an audience of key decision-makers from major corporations and governments from the Middle East and further afield.

Our presence at Expo 2020 Dubai will further the message that Queensland is the fastest growing economy in Australia, and with our tradition of innovation and ambition, close proximity to key markets, pro-business environment, talent pool, and high standard of living is the investment destination of choice in 2022 and beyond.

Remarks from CEO:
Michael Carey
CEO, Trade and Investment Queensland

It is with great pride that I participate in this Queensland trade mission to the Middle East – our state’s first international trade mission in-person for more than two years.

Expo 2020 Dubai – there is no better place to showcase what Queensland has to offer the world – a global event and an opportunity for us to tell Queensland’s story to the world.

Our leading and most innovative companies have accompanied Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Cameron Dick on this mission. As a delegation, we look forward to strengthening existing relationships and establishing new connections and partnerships.

Queensland is a key partner of the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and our TIQ team is pleased to be leading the delivery of our state’s activities at an event where more than 190 countries are represented.

Queensland has long been acknowledged as an ambitious, globally focussed, innovative state, and we aim to further enhance that reputation.

The three events we will host at the Australian Pavilion, feature renowned speakers, guests, and key-decision makers of major international corporations and governments.

We are excited to tell the world about the depth and breadth of the opportunities available in Queensland, as Brisbane prepares to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games - this will be the focus of our ‘Brisbane 2032’ showcase.

We will also share details about how to leverage Queensland’s many advantages as an investment destination of choice for renewables including the green hydrogen industry. Our state’s potential in this area is the focus for our ‘Global New Energy’ event.

During our ‘Future Cities’ forum, the important role Queensland companies are playing on a global scale, using innovation and emerging technologies to improve standards of living globally will be put in the spotlight.

Queensland is proud to be here at Expo 2020 Dubai and we look forward to working with you, your communities, and the businesses they support.
