Queensland based Stralis Aircraft has partnered with Japan’s Akita University and Akita Prefectural University to test its hydrogen electric propulsion system at one of Japan’s top electric aircraft facilities.

Backed by Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) and JETRO, the project includes real world trials of Stralis’ HTPEM fuel cells, a proprietary technology that is six times lighter than conventional alternatives and emits only water during operation.

The agreement also supports workforce training and closer industry academic ties between Queensland and Japan.

This partnership highlights Queensland’s leadership in clean aviation innovation as World Expo 2025 Osaka unfolds.
