During World Expo Osaka 2025, Queensland’s Stralis Aircraft announced a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Akita University and Akita Prefectural University in Japan.

Under the agreement, Stralis will test its hydrogen electric propulsion system at Japan’s premier electric aircraft testing centre.

The collaboration includes academic exchanges, training of aviation engineers and will see a Bonanza A36HE demonstrator fly in Japan by late 2026.

Stralis’ proprietary HTPEM fuel cell is six times lighter and enables ten times the range of battery electric systems at half the operating cost.

This MoU marks a significant step for Queensland’s hydrogen aviation ambitions on the international stage.
