Amazon chooses Brisbane

In a year when the COVID-19 pandemic increased global demand for online ordering, Amazon chose the Brisbane suburb of Lytton to establish its newest Australian fulfilment centre.

The multimillion-dollar facility has created 200+ local jobs and is helping Queensland businesses seamlessly deliver their products to customers’ doors around the country.

Trade and Investment Queensland was a proud part of the Queensland Government team that helped bring Amazon to Brisbane.

Director of Operations Craig Fuller said choosing Queensland made sound business sense.

‘Brisbane is a key strategic location to meet customer demand in Queensland, and we were pleased to work with Trade and Investment Queensland to ensure the site suited Amazon’s requirements.

‘We are committed to improving delivery promises for our customers as demand continues to grow.

‘Building infrastructure closer to where our customers and third-party sellers Amazon’s Brisbane fulfilment warehouse commenced operations in October 2020 and has already shipped more than 1 million parcels from its Queensland facility.
