Renewable energy

Queensland’s abundant sunshine and wind is powering a flourishing renewables industry.

More than 25 per cent of Queensland’s energy is currently sourced from renewables, and we are targeting 80 per cent by 2035 ahead of net zero emissions by 2050.

Currently, there are over 50 large-scale renewable energy projects (operating, under construction or financially committed) in Queensland.

The Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP) outlines how Queensland will deliver clean, reliable and affordable power for generations by growing our state’s large-scale renewable energy generation capacity to around 25GW.

Queensland is also developing a complete renewable hydrogen ecosystem including energy generation, production, export, domestic demand, and downstream opportunities such as manufacturing and assembly.

The $4.5 billion Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund is supporting this.

Solar and wind

Queensland leads Australia in large-scale photovoltaic solar array deployment and has a large pipeline of solar projects in development. With abundant options available and the benefit of almost year-round sunshine, Queensland is turning these natural advantages into investment opportunities – both in the design and development of new infrastructure and recycling at end-of-life. Additionally, with some of the strongest and most consistent wind resources in Australia, Queensland is rapidly developing a comprehensive wind energy profile that encourages new investment in wind generation.

Renewable hydrogen

Our state is committed to building a complete renewable hydrogen ecosystem – including energy generation, production, export, domestic demand, and downstream opportunities such as manufacturing and assembly.

Batteries

To grow Queensland’s role in the battery supply chain, the Queensland Government released the $570 million Queensland Battery Industry Strategy. This will support Queensland’s local industry for critical minerals, chemicals, and advanced manufacturing.

Discover Queensland’s Renewable Energy Investment Opportunity

There is no better time to invest in Queensland’s renewable energy sector.

Queensland is powering towards the target of 70% renewable energy by 2032, with already more than 25% of the State’s electricity powered by renewables. We have a clear plan, backed by A$19 billion to help manage the energy transition. There is no better time to invest in Queensland’s renewable energy transformation.
